Chinese police have detained two former Chinese students in Japan for allegedly killing the chairman of a construction company and his wife in Oita Prefecture Japan in 2002, a Japanese investigative source said Sunday.

As there is no criminal extradition treaty between the two countries, Japan is expected to ask China to bring the two internationally wanted suspects to justice under Chinese law.

The two, now aged 33 and 35, departed from Fukuoka airport shortly after Satoshi Yoshino, 73, and his wife were slain in Oita Prefecture.

The three others involved in the murder, who were all studying in Japan, have already received prison sentences.
