Eighty-seven women got sick and 41 were taken to the hospital Saturday evening after the pop group NEWS aborted an outdoor concert due to rain, the Tokyo Fire Department said Sunday.

None of the women were found to be in serious condition.

The all-male quartet kicked off the concert at Chichibunomiya Rugby Stadium in Aoyama at 6 p.m. but was forced to end it after an hour and 45 minutes when a thunderstorm moved into the area, drenching an estimated 35,000 people.

A number of women in the audience then began complaining that they were feeling unwell, the group's agency, Johnny & Associates, said.

The 41 people hospitalized were between 9 and 39 and had symptoms associated with low body temperature and were hyperventilating, the fire department said.

NEWS apologized for abandoning the show but invited the audience to return the next day, Johnny said. The concert was rescheduled for Sunday evening.
