The mayor of a town severely affected by the Fukushima nuclear disaster said that despite repeated official declarations that nearby reactors that experienced meltdowns have been stabilized, the crisis is far from over.
In a meeting hosted by a nongovernmental organization Tuesday in Geneva, the U.N.'s European headquarters, Futaba Mayor Katsutaka Idogawa criticized the Japanese government for not fully disclosing information, including how much radiation residents were exposed to in his town, which cohosts the wrecked Fukushima No. 1 plant with Okuma. "Don't we have human rights?" he asked.
