Japan Post Co., the mail-delivery arm of Japan Post Holdings Co., said Tuesday it will open a seven-floor commercial facility on March 21 in the 38-story JP Tower near JR Tokyo Station.

The 9,400-sq.-meter facility, dubbed Kitte, which means postage stamp, will accommodate 71 clothing stores, food retailers and other shops as well as 27 restaurants.

JP Tower, which was developed jointly by Japan Post Holdings Co., East Japan Railway Co. and Mitsubishi Estate Co., was completed in late May at the site of the landmark central post office building.

It has kept part of the historic building. The tower houses the new Tokyo Central Post Office.
