Honda Motor Co. will stop manufacturing two luxury models by next month to allocate more resources to its more popular compact cars and minivehicles, sources said Saturday.

The automaker will cease production of its top-end Legend sedan at the end this month and that of the Inspire sedan in July, they said.

The company has already notified Honda dealerships of its decision to stop accepting new orders for the models.

Honda has been turning out both cars at its plant in Saitama Prefecture. The company, which sells the Legend under the Acura brand in North America, may decide to produce the top-end sedan at a North American facility when a remodeled version is introduced next year, according to the sources.
