NEW YORK – The government will host a meeting on U.N. Security Council reform in Tokyo next Monday as part of efforts to include Japan as a permanent member, Japanese Ambassador to the United Nations Tsuneo Nishida said.
“Our aim is to open a new chapter for an honest, open and substantive dialogue, which is essential to explore achievable reform,” Nishida told U.N. member states Tuesday at a General Assembly debate on the “question of equitable representation on and increase in the membership of the Security Council.”
