SAN JOSE (Kyodo) Prince Akishino and his wife Princess Kiko made a courtesy call Wednesday on Costa Rican President Laura Chinchilla and conveyed a message from Emperor Akihito, officials said.
In the message to Costa Rica's first female leader, the Emperor expressed hopes that the couple's visit will promote mutual understanding and friendship, the officials said.
During the meeting, the couple and Chinchilla touched on Costa Rica's geothermal power generation, and Chinchilla expressed her expectations that the two countries will further enhance cooperation in the field of natural energy.
