The second extra budget for fiscal 2009 should be larger than ¥3 trillion to fund stimulus measures, financial services minister Shizuka Kamei said Wednesday.

Kamei said on a TV program that the economy “will not be able to sustain itself” unless the government puts together an supplementary budget on a “larger scale” than the ¥3 trillion it is trying to cut from the first extra budget, which was drawn up by the previous government for the fiscal year ending next March.
