On the world economy, the G8 leaders:

See signs of stabilization in the global economy but acknowledge that significant downside risks remain. Must stay vigilant to ensure a more balanced and sustainable growth path through improved financial systems and sound fundamentals. Agree on the need to prepare appropriate strategies for unwinding extraordinary policy measures implemented to respond to the economic crisis once recovery is assured. Note that the emergency response to the crisis is encouraging environmentally friendly businesses and jobs.

On climate change, they:

Reconfirm their strong commitment to the successful conclusion of a global, wide-ranging and ambitious post-2012 agreement by the end of 2009.

Recognize the broad scientific view that the increase in global average temperature above preindustrial levels should not exceed 2 degrees. Reiterate their willingness to share with all countries the goal of achieving at least a 50 percent global emissions cut by 2050, recognizing this implies that global emissions need to peak as soon as possible and then decline. Support a goal of developed countries reducing greenhouse gas emissions in aggregate by 80 percent or more by 2050 from 1990 or more recent years.

On development and Africa, they:

Are determined to assist developing countries cope with the impact of the global economic crisis. Are committed to enhancing their collaboration with partner countries in integrating low-carbon growth strategies and effective adaptation measures into their national development plans. Reiterate the importance of fulfilling their commitments to increase aid and pledge to boost aid by $25 billion a year by 2010 together with other donors.
