FUKUOKA (Kyodo) Kyushu Electric Power Co. customers will be able to use their mobile phones to pay their power bills starting in June, the first time the service is being offered by a utility here.

The service will make it easier for the utility' customers to pay bills in rural areas where payment options are limited, the company said Wednesday.

Customers with eBANK Corp. accounts will use their phone cameras to read the bar code on the power bill. The charges will then be automatically deducted from the eBANK accounts, the firm said.
