Italian fashion label Gucci Group opened a new flagship store in Tokyo's fashionable Ginza district Friday, devoting the entire eight-story glass building to high-end handbags, clothing, shoes and other goods.

About 120 people lined up in front of the building in anticipation of the 11 a.m. opening.

Fashion model Ai Tominaga was among those in attendance at the store's opening ceremony.

The Ginza shop is the first in the world devoted exclusively to Gucci products.

Japan accounts for more than 20 percent of Gucci's sales worldwide. The new flagship brings the number of Gucci outlets in Japan to 54.
