A 2-year-old boy died after falling from an upper floor of a condominium high-rise Monday night in Tokyo, police said Tuesday.

Yuto Masaki was found lying on the ground and bleeding from the head near an entrance to the building in Nerima Ward at around 11:30 p.m.

Masaki, who lived on the 11th floor of the 14-story building with his parents, was taken to a hospital where he was later confirmed dead.

Police are questioning the parents about the situation before the boy disappeared.

They believe the boy fell accidentally based on information provided by the resident who found him.

Police, however, have not ruled out the possibility the boy was slain, partly because it would not have been easy for him to climb over the railing on the corridors or the stairs of the upper floors.
