A 42-year-old woman was arrested Saturday for fatally stabbing her husband, who was trying to stop her from committing suicide,at their home in Anjo, Aichi Prefecture, police said.
Toshihiko Yamamoto, 46, was stabbed in the left part of his chest during the scuffle at around 7:40 a.m., they said.
Police alleged the woman, whose name was not released, was carrying a kitchen knife at the time with the intention of taking her own life.
"My husband stopped me as I tried to kill myself. I don't remember what happened after that," the woman was quoted as telling the police.
