Three major banks announced Tuesday that cash card data for hundreds of customers might have been stolen when the cards were used at automated teller machines in the United States and France.

Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Mizuho Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. received notices in late February about possible thefts from a credit card company that has tied up with them to make overseas ATM services available to their customers, the officials said.
