OTSU, Shiga Pref. (Kyodo) A 34-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing two 5-year-olds as she was driving them to kindergarten in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, on Friday has told police she had harbored concerns for her own child, who attended the same school, investigative sources said.

The sources said Saturday that the suspect, Zheng Yongshan, a Chinese national who is married to a Japanese and has the Japanese name of Mie Taniguchi, told investigators she believed the other children were to blame for her daughter's inability to make friends.

"I killed (the other children) because I thought it would not be good for my child if things were left as they were," Zheng was quoted as saying.
