New Komeito party leader Takenori Kanzaki said Sunday he will seek re-election as head of the party, and no other candidates are expected to emerge by the Oct. 24 registration deadline.
"I hope to again undertake a great task as party leader," Kanzaki, who has held the post since 1998, told a meeting at New Komeito's headquarters. The party will officially select its leaderfor the next two-year term at a convention Oct. 31.
