Four people were killed Sunday morning in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, when their minicar collided head-on with a sedan heading the wrong way, police said.

The sedan was being driven by a 75-year-old man who was injured in the crash, police said.

The four dead were identified as Brazilians. Their minicar was being driven by Yuzo Claudio Yasunaga, a 29-year-old man from Kakegawa, Shizuoka Prefecture, police said.

The driver of the sedan was identified as Kunio Suzuki, 75, of Hamamatsu. There were no passengers in his car.

The collision occurred on a bypass of Route 1 at around 6:40 a.m.
