An audio production company for animations was ordered Thursday to pay some 87 million yen in fees to 360 voice actors for video clips that used voice material originally recorded for animated programs.

During a trial at the Tokyo District Court, Onkyo Eizo System said it was not obliged to pay the actors as it had not signed up to an agreement between an actors' association and an industry body of audio production firms over fees for video material.

Judge Takaomi Takizawa, however, ordered the company to pay the fees.
