The nation's tax revenues rose 5.7 percent in July from a year earlier to 4.04 trillion yen, helped by an increase in funds taken in through the income tax.

The Finance Ministry said Monday that cumulative tax revenues from April to July came to 6.59 trillion yen, down 0.6 percent from the same period last year.

For July, income tax revenues rose 0.2 percent to 2.83 trillion yen. Revenues from tax on declared income declined 2 percent to 429.74 billion yen.
