A 21-year-old U.S. Marine was arrested Tuesday in Kin, Okinawa Prefecture, on suspicion of assaulting a restaurant employee and possessing a knife as a weapon, police said.

Cpl. Michael Clark is suspected of punching the 25-year-old employee in the face at around 12:15 a.m. after he had been ordered to leave the restaurant, police said, adding he was carrying a sharp 7-cm blade.

The restaurant had told Clark to leave after the employee had asked him to pay $36, but he only had $6 and demanded change, police said.

Clark has admitted to the offense, they said.
