Supermarket chain operator Daiei Inc. said Tuesday it will start selling men's suits for 9,000 yen at 250 outlets.
The discounting, which starts Thursday, is possible due to mass production in countries with relatively low labor costs, such as China and North Korea, Daiei said.
The company expects to sell 300,000 suits in the current business year to February.
