Two aircraft slammed into the twin buildings of the World Trade Center in New York within minutes Tuesday morning in a coordinated terrorist attack against targets in New York and Washington.
At about the same time as the crashes on the World Trade Center, an airplane crashed at the Pentagon and the State Department was reportedly hit by a car bomb. Part of the Pentagon collapsed later.
A United Airlines Boeing 767 jetliner on a flight from New York to San Francisco crashed near Pittsburg, Penn., the airline said.
The CBS television network said one plane crashed into the U.S. presidential retreat at Camp David.
