A 4-year-old girl died Saturday after getting her neck entwined in a seat belt in her mother's car in Numata, Gunma Prefecture, while the mother was shopping, police said.

Police said Miki Takai was found unconscious with the seat belt wrapped around her neck at around 3:40 p.m. when her mother Chiyoko, 30, returned to the car after spending several minutes shopping.
