NAHA, Okinawa Pref. – The mayor of Nago, Okinawa Prefecture, plans to meet for the first time next month with local residents who oppose the city’s plan to host a new airport that will take over the heliport functions of a U.S. military base in another Okinawa city, the residents said Saturday.
They said Mayor Tateo Kishimoto, who announced the plan in December last year, will meet with them either Dec. 10 or 17.
