Pitcher Kazuhiro Sasaki, who was recently named the American League’s Rookie of the Year, will fund a scholarship for children living in Bangkok’s slums for a third consecutive year, it was learned Friday.

The donation will be made through the Tokyo-based Shanti Volunteer Association for about 90 Thai children living in poverty, said association officials, adding that the Sasaki scholarship has helped 204 children in the past two years.
