Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori and Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks on Nov. 15 in Brunei, on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum summit, Japanese officials said Thursday.

Putin and Foreign Minister Yohei Kono agreed on the schedule during their meeting at the Kremlin on Thursday, they said.

Kono arrived in Moscow on Wednesday night to prepare for the Putin-Mori meeting. He was scheduled to meet Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko later Thursday and Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov on Friday.

At the outset of the meeting, Putin called on Kono to "continue negotiating" to move forward plans, agreed by Mori and Putin in Tokyo in September, to expedite negotiations on a bilateral peace treaty, including negotiations at the foreign ministerial level, the officials said.
