A 31-year-old man wanted in connection with last month's murder of a 16-year-old boy in Muikamachi, Niigata Prefecture, turned himself in to police Friday.

Hidehiko Wakai was arrested after turning himself in at Muikamachi Police Station in connection with the death of Masato Takahashi on May 22.

According to police, Wakai conspired with Yoshimi Hoshino, a 28-year-old former pachinko parlor employee, to pour kerosene on the boy and set him alight inside the Warabino Tunnel in Muikamachi at around 5 a.m. that morning.

Hoshino, who was once married to Wakai's sister, was arrested May 24.

Police said Wakai ordered the owner of a restaurant to arrange for Takahashi and another teen to come see him on the night of May 21. The boys used to work in the restaurant.
