United World Colleges, an international nongovernmental organization of colleges, is now accepting applications for this year's scholarships.The organization was established to raise young people's awareness of other cultures by inviting students from throughout the world to study in a two-year preuniversity program. The scholarships, which cover about half of the tuition and boarding fees, will be granted to 12 students from Japan through the organization's national group to study in Britain, Canada, Singapore, Italy, the United States, Hong Kong or Norway.Students beginning their second year of high school in April are invited to apply.
