Fashion critic Hiromi Ichida has collected traditional folk costumes from more than 100 countries as part of her research into ethnic clothing culture but also to help conserve many rare garments.

This exhibition presents costumes from parts of Asia along the silk road, as well as others from Europe, Africa, and Middle and South America. An exploration and comparison of craftsmanship and design, this exhibition places these garments among the museum's Buddhist statues, highlighting the religious significance of some of the pieces.
