The Seaside Motel is a shabby, four-room motel perched on a mountain — with no view of the sea at all. Colorful cinematography and eye-catching, candy-storelike set designs contrast with a story of betrayal, murder, prostitution and adultery. Four different stories unfold in each of the rooms and are cleverly tied together toward the end. Despite many funny moments and a comical cast, including Johnny's Jimusho idol Toma Ikuta, the film's conclusion questions the existence of fate and the human goodness, ultimately confusing viewers.
