Melos Han-Tani, 33, is the game designer and composer behind the indie games of the Anodyne series and Sephonie. Hailing from Chicago, Han-Tani draws inspiration from a wide range of sources and channels his creativity through games, music and writing.

1. You have a very unique name. Where does it come from? Han and Tani are nods to my Taiwanese and Japanese relatives. Melos comes from “melody,” since music-making is important to me.

2. You’re a man of many trades. How would you define yourself professionally? Primarily a video game designer, programmer and composer. I also do some hobbyist writing and community work for online games.
