Actor Yosuke Kubozuka survived a fall Sunday from the balcony of his ninth-floor condominium in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, sustaining injuries, police said.
The 25-year-old actor fell about 26 meters, hit a wire mesh fence surrounding the building and landed on a lawn. The police said much of the impact shock seems to have been absorbed by the 2-meter-tall fence. The incident occurred shortly after midday.
Kubozuka, who was conscious after the fall, was taken to a nearby hospital, the police said. There was no immediate information about the extent of his injuries.
The police quoted his wife as saying, “I thought I saw him walking toward the balcony and the next moment he disappeared.”
The police said they will question Kubozuka, suspecting he may have attempted to kill himself, although they have not found a suicide note.
Kubozuka has played roles in films and television dramas, including the award-winning film “GO,” which depicts the struggles of Korean residents of Japan.
