Sumo's governing body decided Friday to demote former yokozuna Hakuho over repeated violence by his 22-year-old protege Hokuseiho.
Hokuseiho leaves the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo after a meeting with the Japan Sumo Association on Wednesday.
