Fujita — and his works — come to life at Nagoya museum
At Nagoya City Art Museum, Seizo Tsukamoto has changed his appearance to look like the late Japanese-French painter Tsuguharu Fujita (1886-1968) — a mushroom hairstyle, short mustache and round-rimmed glasses — to promote the museum's Fujita exhibition, which kicks off on Friday.

Fujimoto: Superlative sushi at an informal counter restaurant
Fujimoto is that rare kind of sushi restaurant that has covered many bases without tripping over any of them along the way. Take the price, for example. While the omakase (set menu) options for lunch and dinner are priced between ¥3,500 and ¥6,000, the a la carte menu starts from around ¥900 for a selection of bite-sized nigiri sushi. Also, with its breezy and informal atmosphere — background jazz as opposed to muzak — it's more suggestive of a cafe.

Veteran midfielder Fujimoto to transfer to Marinos
Jungo Fujimoto, a midfielder with national team experience, will move from Nagoya Grampus to Yokohama F. Marinos, it was learned Thursday.The 29-year-old native of Kanagawa Prefecture, moved from J.League club Shimizu S-Pulse to Grampus in 2011. Fujimoto scored three goals in 28 games for the Nagoya-based club this season.

Woman in Brazil convicted over Japan road death
A Japanese-Brazilian woman was sentenced to 26 months in prison, commuted to one year of community service, Monday by a Sao Paulo district court for causing a road accident that resulted in the death of a 2-year-old Japanese girl in Shizuoka Prefecture in 2005.
