Nine people were killed in Vancouver and multiple others were injured after a driver plowed into a large crowd at a street festival on Saturday evening.
Police said the suspect, a 30-year-old Vancouver man, was arrested at the scene, according to a post on X. While the investigation is ongoing, police are "confident” the incident wasn’t an act of terrorism, they added.
Authorities said the incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. in Vancouver's Sunset on Fraser neighborhood as members of the Filipino community gathered to celebrate Lapu Lapu Day.
