Tokyo confirmed 2,160 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, an increase of 479 from a week before and the eighth straight day of week-on-week rise.
The capital also reported two new deaths linked to COVID-19, while the seven-day average of new infections rose 23.3% to 1,963.4. There were three severely ill patients under the city’s criteria, an increase of one from Friday.
