Industrial output rose a seasonally adjusted 0.7 percent in May instead of the initially reported 0.5 percent, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Monday.

The index of output at factories and mines thus reached 100.0 against the base of 100 for 2010.

METI attributed the upward revision in the month-on-month figure to an increase in production of alcoholic beverages, which was not reflected in the preliminary report released June 30.

The index of shipments fell 1.0 percent instead of the initially reported 1.2 percent, while inventories rose 3.0 percent, instead of 2.9 percent, METI said.
