Drugmaker Eisai Co. said Friday that its subsidiary in Taiwan has agreed to divest its plant on the island to Taiwanese pharmaceutical firm Bora Corp.

The divestment by Eisai Taiwan Inc. of its plant in Tainan, which has served as a production base for emerging markets, particularly in Asia, is expected to be completed by September, the parent company said.

The drugmaker has decided to sell the plant as part of efforts to streamline production lines to enhance efficiency and productivity.
