Former Olympus Corp. President and Chief Executive Officer Michael C. Woodford planned to meet Tuesday evening with investors as part of his proxy battle to retake the scandal-hit company's helm.

Scheduled to arrive in Japan on Tuesday and stay through Friday, Woodford plans to attend a panel meeting Wednesday with the Democratic Party of Japan to discuss corporate governance, the DPJ said. He will also hold a news conference.

It is Woodford's second visit to Japan since he was dismissed from his posts on Oct. 14 after pointing out the firm's dubious acquisitions and exorbitant outlays, including the advisory fees it paid in its acquisition of British medical equipment maker Gyrus Group PLC.

Olympus, which makes cameras and other optical equipment as well as IC recorders, later admitted some of the acquisitions were used to cover up investment losses dating back to the 1990s. A third-party panel set up by the company went further by branding management as "rotten."

Olympus plans to submit its April-September earnings report as well as corrected earnings for the past five years on Wednesday, the deadline stipulated by law for the firm to remain listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
