Japanese monetary authorities did not intervene in the foreign-exchange market in 2009, the Finance Ministry said Wednesday.

The ministry said it did not conduct currency market intervention via the Bank of Japan from Nov. 27 to Dec. 28, extending the intervention-free period since March 17, 2004, to 69 months.
