The commander of U.S. Kadena Air Base in Okinawa Prefecture indicated Wednesday that the United States could consider shifting air training drills to Osaka in the future, calling it an “option.”

Brig. Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach, who took command of the 18th Wing in July, also said the United States and Japan should continue to talk “openly” about the issue of relocating U.S. Marine Corps’ Air Station Futenma for the benefit of the two countries.
