A total of 244,308 nonregular workers either lost or are expected to lose their jobs in the period from last October to this December amid the economic downturn, a labor ministry survey showed Friday.

The figures grew by 5,556 from the previous survey in September, the Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry said.
