Retailing giant Aeon Co. said Friday it has named Jerry Black, president of a U.S. consulting firm, as its first foreign executive to build its business overseas.

Black, 49, will start work as an adviser on March 21 and assume the directorship after a general shareholders' meeting in May, taking charge of Aeon's business in China, Southeast Asia and other places, as well as group strategy, said Aeon, which operates the Jusco and MaxValu supermarket chains.

Aeon is a client of Black's consultancy.
