A TV reporter in Fukuoka Prefecture who was arrested Sunday on suspicion of raping a high school girl in November has admitted raping other women, police said Monday.

Hiroyuki Kitamura, 29, a reporter at RKB Mainichi Broadcasting Corp. and a resident of the city of Fukuoka, was arrested Sunday along with Toshio Tashima, 39, a gas station employee residing in Onojo, Fukuoka Prefecture.

Kitamura and Tashima are suspected of raping a 17-year-old girl from Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, whom they came to know through a mobile phone dating service, after bringing her by car from JR Fukuoka Station to a hotel in Onojo on Nov. 15.

Kitamura told police he has raped other women, and police said they suspect he raped other women in a similar manner after contacting them through a mobile phone dating service.

The broadcaster has apologized for the incident and fired Kitamura.
