BEIJING (Kyodo) Japan on Monday urged China, the chair of the six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear ambitions and the North's primary ally, to make further efforts to bring Pyongyang back to the nuclear negotiations, the Japanese Embassy in Beijing said.

Kenichiro Sasae, Japan's chief delegate to the multilateral talks, made the comment to China's head delegate Wu Dawei in a meeting in the Chinese capital, the embassy said.

Wu, vice foreign minister, said Beijing plans to continue working with both North Korea and the United States to resume the talks, the statement said.
