OTSU, Shiga Pref. (Kyodo) A 34-year-old woman was arrested Friday on suspicion of fatally stabbing a 5-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, both kindergarten classmates of her daughter, in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture.
Zheng Yongshan, who has Chinese nationality, confessed to stabbing the children after she was arrested in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, police said, without mentioning a possible motive.
Zheng, who is married to a Japanese and goes by the Japanese name Mie Taniguchi, told police she had made up her mind to kill the children in the morning, hours before she committed the murders at around 9 a.m.
