A man believed to be Japanese, his wife and three others in a family were killed and another member of the family was wounded in a robbery and arson at their home in Sao Paulo, police said Monday.

According to reports, the family consisted of Sadashi Yonekura and his wife, Futaba, their three children -- Fatima, 31, Nilton, 26, and William, 29, and William's wife Erica, 28.

William Yonekura sustained injuries to his head, but his 11-month-old son was unhurt, the reports said.

According to police, two armed men broke in, took $5,000 in cash, locked the family in a room and set the house on fire in the eastern part of the city Saturday night, when William and William's wife had just arrived for a visit from Japan, where they work, police said.
