Police raided seven trucking companies Thursday in Hyogo, Kyoto and Osaka prefectures for evidence of trucks being operated with illegal decorative boards and tinting that restrict the driver’s view.

The government revised the law to prohibit the decorative boards in January after a truck equipped with such a board in November 2003 ran over and killed a 10-month-old baby in Kawasaki because the driver didn’t see the child.
