SAITAMA – An automated teller machine containing around 28 million yen was stolen early Saturday from a supermarket in Gyoda, Saitama Prefecture, police.
The ATM was found empty at a dump about 2 km from the supermarket. It had been opened with power tools.
Police then found a truck that had run off the road near the site. When they attempted to question the young male driver, he ran off, leaving behind 18 million yen.
A search has been launched for the suspect.
