Prosecutors indicted a 26-year-old man on Saturday for allegedly kidnapping and injuring a 15-year-old girl and keeping her captive for 11 days.

Jun Kondo, unemployed, of Sado Island in Niigata Prefecture, was indicted for allegedly taking the girl, a third-year junior high school student, to his home where he lived with his parents.

According to the indictment, on Sept. 2, Kondo hit the girl from behind with his car in the city of Murakami in Niigata Prefecture. The girl suffered injuries to her knees due to the impact and fainted.

Kondo placed the girl in his car and threatened her with a knife. He then drove around the prefectures of Niigata and Yamagata before taking her to his home, it said.

On the car ferry to Sado Island, Kondo bound the girl's arms and legs with rope. At his home, he confined her in his locked room, it said.

The girl was released on Sept. 13 after Kondo's 57-year-old father, finding out that she had been kidnapped, informed the police. Kondo had told his parents that the girl was his friend.
